'Nourishing: Reflections of Resilience'
Portrait artist Courtney Bae has been working closely with SWEDA on a powerful new series of paintings.
Exploring the complexities of eating disorders, recovery and human resilience, ‘Nourishing’ features members of our SWEDA Community and the stories they have to tell.
The project is well underway, with a visit to SWEDA last week for Bae to meet some of our sitters and hear their stories. Here are some photos of the artist at work:

And here's a beautiful description of what the exhibition sets out to achieve:
"Informed by lived-experience from a close relationship with a loved-one suffering from an eating disorder, Bae uses her work to serve as a visual bridge between the internal weight of trauma and the external beauty of survival. Nourishing invites viewers to look closely, feel deeply, and acknowledge the strength required to grow."
In support of the people at the heart of the series, 20% of the proceeds of every work sold will be donated directly to SWEDA’s counselling, support and outreach work.
We are incredibly honoured to be working in partnership with Courtney on this project and can’t wait to see the finished portraits and the stories they tell.
‘Nourishing: Reflections of Resilience’ will be on exhibition in Sworders London Gallery this September. To find out more about the project and the exhibition, visit www.sworder.co.uk/courtney-bae-nourishing-exhibition/
