Our Team's Champion Areas
Our Team's Champion Areas
SWEDA are aware that everyone who has an eating problem is also an individual who may have other circumstances which may help or hinder their recovery. We also understand that there are things that mean different people might need different types of help to move forward with their lives. We try to take a holistic approach at SWEDA, working with our clients as whole people.
Although our clinical staff have lots of training in eating disorders and mental health and wellbeing, SWEDA also recognise that no one person can know all there is to know about eating disorders and all the other things that can come along with them. For this reason, we are developing a ‘Champions’ programme at SWEDA. This means that different clinicians and staff who may know more about some things or have a special interest in them, agree to undertake some extra learning or research and act as the Champion for that area. They are then available to offer advice or information to everyone at SWEDA who might need that expertise when working with a client.
We have Champions in the following areas:
· Perinatal – Kat Cross
· Autism and Neurodiversity – Sue Thomas and Hannah McKie
· T1 Diabetes – Claire Rylatt and Sue Thomas
· LGBTQIA+ - Claire Rylatt
· Grief and Bereavement – Mel Nelson
· Parents, friends and family (of people with an ED) – Lisa Brown
· Sexual Assault and Abuse – Emma Willes
· Addiction – Hayley Cole
· Cancer – Leoni Van Haver
· Domestic/ Intimate Partner Violence – Joey Jenkins
· Body Dysmorphia – George Gould
· Nutrition – Hannah Saunders
Our list of champions is growing all the time and we’d like to keep expanding the programme. If you think we should have a champion in another area, please do let us know your ideas by contacting us at support@swedauk.org and giving your email the title ‘Champions Programme’.
