Fundraise for SWEDA
Fundraise for SWEDA
Thank you for considering fundraising for SWEDA!
Fundraising efforts are amazing, because they help us meet the costs of our service AND they raise public awareness of our vital work. Maybe you’re interested in getting stuck in with something crafty, nominating us as your businesses' Charity of the Year, or fundraising for us at an upcoming gig or event. However you’d like to be involved, your support means we can be there for children, young people and adults affected by eating disorders.
Take a look at our Fundraising Pack for ideas for getting your fundraiser started. Once you're ready to go, let us know what you've got planned. We'll send you our top tips to help make your fundraiser a success, and let you know exactly how all the money raised will help people affected by eating disorders.
You can set up a Just Giving page and fundraise for SWEDA here: www.justgiving.com/sweda

CRAFTING FOR SWEDA
Although you are welcome to choose any fundraising project that appeals to you, we have a particular affinity with crafting and creativity here at SWEDA. Crafting projects such as crocheting, knitting, origami, beading necklaces or embroidery can help lower stress levels, giving us an outlet for creative expression and allowing the more logical side of our brains to switch off for a moment. They can require patience, problem-solving, focus and require resilience and sometimes the ability to ask for help.
We would love to build a community of crafters, makers and creatives at SWEDA, so if you would like to set up a fundraiser in this area, please get in touch and we’ll help however we can.
Ideas for craft fundraisers include:
Host a Crafting Event – Gather a group of friends, family or colleagues together for a fun craft workshop. Charge a small entry fee for donations to SWEDA and provide a list of craft materials they’ll need. You could also consider holding a raffle or selling refreshing homemade drinks.
Crafty Book – Collect favourite ‘makes’ from family and friends and sell them as a book or downloadable PDF
Cross-Stitch Marathon – invite people to an event where they learn to cross stitch a personalised message of hope. Collect donations on the door and aim for 100 messages to give to SWEDA clients.
1. Choose your activity
Support SWEDA your way!
There are so many ways to get involved. Join one of our events or simply do your own thing. However you fundraise, you will be helping someone take the next step towards a more hopeful future! If you'd like to talk through your ideas, or need tips for fundraising, we'd love to hear about your plans! Get in touch by emailing our Fundraising Lead, Gavin, at gavinosborn@swedauk.org.
2. Set-up an Online Page
Fundraising online is easy. Set up an online page on Just Giving or Enthuse and donations will come directly to SWEDA.
Set a fundraising target and add a photo to personalise your page.
Don’t forget to share your story and let others know WHY you’re fundraising. Sharing your own motivations for supporting SWEDA is a brilliant way to let people know why their support makes a difference and why it matters to you.
You can also add a link to our website www.swedauk.org to help explain why SWEDA’s work is important and how support will help.
3. Spread the word
Share your page wherever you can – social media pages, emails, texts, as far and wide as possible - to let your friends and family know what you’re doing and why. Keep everyone updated on how you’re doing! Whether by sponsoring your page or by helping out at the fundraising event, sharing your journey keeps people engaged and jogs their memory to help if they haven’t before. Famously, people need to be asked about 3 times before they decide to chip in. We can share your pages and events on our social media channels too, so don’t forget to tag SWEDA (@SWEDAUK on Facebook, @sweda_uk_org on Instagram and @SWEDAUK on LinkedIn).
4. Get Fundraising Materials
We have everything you need to get started on your fundraising! Get in touch if you need t-shirts, card-readers, posters, sponsorship forms, shareable social media images and even bunting.
5. Have a fantastic fundraiser!
Whatever you choose to do for SWEDA, your support is going to help people affected by eating disorders take the first steps on the road to recovery.
If you'd like to make a bank transfer to send your fundraising to us, you can email the team at gavinosborn@swedauk.org and we can send payment details to you.
You can also send a cheque to our address at The Coach House Harvest Court, Park Rd, Shepton Mallet BA4 5BS
Bucket collections
If you’re thinking of holding a bucket collection, remember that small change really does make a big difference. You can spread the word about the work we do at SWEDA, raise vital funds and have fun with like-minded volunteers in your local community. You could organise a collection at your own event. Anyone collecting in this way must be over 16 years old. When you’re ready to collect, get in touch with our fundraising team at gavinosborn@swedauk.org.
Collecting on private property
If the collection is to take place on private premises, (e.g. shopping centres, shopping centre car parks, train station forecourts) it is your responsibility to obtain written permission from the site holders or owners.
Collecting on public property
If it is a street or house-to-house collection or in a public place, you will be required to obtain permission from your local authority. Most councils have details of how to apply for a license on their website. Please plan ahead, as this process can take time.
Fundraising promise and data protection
Your donations make a big difference to funding and supporting our work with people affected by eating disorders. We recognise our supporters are at the heart of SWEDA. We simply could not do the work we do without you and will always respect your wishes.
Please see our Privacy Statement and how we use your data at https://swedauk.org/uploads/files/Privacy-and-Cookie-Policy-v4.pdf
We will never sell your personal data or swap it with any other organisation. We will use your details in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. We abide by the rules of the Fundraising Regulator and are honest, respectful and accountable to our supporters.
If you have any queries, would like to change the way we communicate with you or are dissatisfied in any way, please contact gavinosborn@swedauk.org. Any information you submit on this page is sent over a secure connection between your computer and this server.
Whilst we really appreciate individuals raising money for SWEDA by taking part in sponsored events, such as 5/10km runs, marathons, and other physical activities, we also need to protect our clients. Excessive or compulsive exercise can be a dangerous activity for those with eating disorders and we want to be sure that we do our best to keep our clients safe. If you are in recovery from an eating disorder, we kindly ask that you do not fundraise for SWEDA by doing these types of physical activities. If you need any further information or clarification on this, please contact us.
How Do I Get Started?
First, decide how you’d like to fundraise. You can organise your own event or sign up to one of ours.
Start fundraising by setting up your Just Giving page here: https://www.justgiving.com/sweda
Or set up an Enthuse page here: https://swedauk.enthuse.com/profile
If your fundraising page is linked to one of these, your donations (including Gift Aid) will automatically transfer to SWEDA.
How Will My Fundraising Help?
You fundraising will go towards our many services across the region; including one-to-one counselling, therapeutic support workers, Children and Young People team and more, to support people affected by eating disorders.
Can I Fundraise for SWEDA in an Event that’s not on your Website?
Yes! Fundraise however you choose, just set up a JustGiving or Enthuse page, link it to our SWEDA page and start fundraising. If you need any help, please email gavinosborn@swedauk.org.
Can SWEDA help with my fundraising?
Yes! We are here to help with whatever you need and can spread the word about your event on our social media channels, provide flyers/posters/t-shirts for your event and whatever you need to make it a huge success.
What logo should I use on my posters/flyers?
Please use our ‘In Aid Of SWEDA’ logo, which you can download here.
Paying in Donations
JustGiving and Enthuse will pay in the donations automatically.
If you are sending a cheque, please address it to SWEDA LTD and send it to The Coach House Harvest Court, Park Rd, Shepton Mallet BA4 5BS
If you would like to make a donation online, you can make a secure payment via our Enthuse fundraising page here https://swedauk.enthuse.com/cp/50299/sweda_fundraiser#!/
How does Gift Aid work?
If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid is an easy way to make your support tax effective. SWEDA can reclaim basic rate tax on your donations, meaning that for every £1 you give, we receive £1.25. Please complete the Gift Aid declaration on the donation form so we can make the most of this opportunity.
