3.5 million people in the UK affected by eating disorders

A newly revealed statistic from BEAT estimates that around 3.5 million people in the UK are living with eating disorders.*

That’s 1 in 20 people over the age of 11.

The evidence is here to confirm what we’ve been noticing on the frontline: more and more people reaching out for our support.

The good news is: recovery is always possible. For every single person behind this statistic.

This is exactly why we need investment in early intervention, preventative services like SWEDA. Services that empower recovery.  The support we’re able to offer in our corner of the UK should be available everywhere.

But we need decisive, national action to make eating disorder care accessible to everyone, no matter where in the country they are.

We hope this new evidence adds even more strength to the case for a national strategy for eating disorder care.

3.5 million people are counting on it.
