Watch our therapists skydive for SWEDA

Skydiving for SWEDA

In honour of the courage and resilience of our SWEDA clients, our Children and Young People's therapists Hannah and Zoe took to the skies and jumped out a plane at 15,000ft for SWEDA.

Here's why they chose to take the leap:

"Every day, as Children’s Team Counsellors at SWEDA, we have the privilege of supporting incredible young people and their families who are affected by eating disorders. We witness extraordinary courage as they face fears, overcome challenges, and take difficult steps towards recovery. Their resilience inspires us every single day.

Recovery is not easy. It takes immense strength to walk into a counselling session, to be vulnerable, and to keep choosing hope, even when things feel overwhelming. We are constantly humbled by the bravery of the young people we work alongside.

Now it’s our turn to step outside of our comfort zones. We are taking on a skydive to raise vital funds and awareness for SWEDA. Jumping out of a plane is something that genuinely terrifies us, but it feels fitting to face one of our own fears in honour of the courage we see every day in our work."

And they didn't go alone! Hannah and Zoe were joined by SWEDA supporter Jazz, who took on the challenge in recognition of the bravery of close friends affected by eating disorders: "I've decided to do this as many of my friends over the years have struggled with bulimia, binge eating & body image. The need for SWEDA’s services is only getting bigger.”

Together, these brave souls raised over £2,000 so that more people can access recovery support in our community (you can see their fundraising pages here and here).

Here's some words from our skydiving heroes about the experience:

"Thank you so much for those who shared the word, donated and showed support. We are so grateful. The money raised will go towards helping clients experiencing eating disorders, and we honestly could not be more grateful for your kindness and generosity."
