Complex diagnostic criteria
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a complex anxiety disorder recognised by both DSM-IV and ICD-10. The criteria for OCD are quite complex.
OCD can include a variety of symptoms
- distressing rituals
- intense fear
- repetitive thoughts
- intrusive thoughts
- compulsive actions
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and the link with eating disorders
Obsessional behaviour around food and/or dieting may present symptoms similar to an eating disorder. It is also thought by some that OCD and eating disorders may be related in some way. It is not uncommon for someone to suffer with both.
