Current volunteer opportunities

If you have skills that you think might be useful, then please get in touch. Volunteering is a great way to make a meaningful contribution to a cause that matters to you. It's also a great way to meet people and develop new skills.

There are many ways to get involved with SWEDA – from helping with outreach and marketing activities, volunteer counselling placements, helping maintain our buildings, PR opportunities – talk to us to discuss further. A great way to meet like-minded people, build up experience, gain confidence and get involved. Training is provided, expenses are paid and there is plenty of opportunity for learning throughout.

A number of our SWEDA Volunteers have personal experience of an eating disorder, either as a someone with an eating disorder or supporting someone else who has one, and would like to use this experience to help others. This can be helpful, but is not a pre requisite - all that's needed is a desire to learn and support others in a non-judgmental and user led environment.

Contact us using our contact form or call 01749 34 33 44 for more information.

SWEDA Counsellors provide an essential part of the SWEDA service. As a Counsellor on Placement, volunteering with SWEDA enables you to develop your counselling skills and personal counselling style under the guidance of the Clinical Lead and with the support of the SWEDA team. The SWEDA approach is integrative, providing you with opportunities to utilise and implement a variety of theoretical models. SWEDA believes in treating service users as individuals. Therefore, our Counsellors develop proficiency in assessing and delivering the most appropriate interventions for each client.

We run recruitment drives for these placements twice a year. If you would like to be placed on a list that will alert you when we are next looking to recruit Volunteer Counsellors, please contact us using our contact form.
