Destruction's choking Grip

Within my flame is extinct
My soul has long departed
Why would it remain
On this sodden plain
When the flood's only just started?

Held in destruction's choking grip
Decieved by its appeal
It sucks me in
To trap me within
Overpowering all I feel

Dark clouds surrounding me
Smothering and blinding me
Through motionless grey I cannot see
Where it is I should aim to be

All light has been extinguished
Underground is the way to go
Where I can hide
Forget the pain inside
Be saved from my downward flow

I seek to be chastised
To shed off all my skins
My back will break
If I don't locate
A route to forgive my sins

I try to dig them out of me
Oozing, seeping to set me free
Fighting the battle not to believe
That there they'll stay for eternity

Inside me somewhere dark
These thoughts are multiplying
But disguised by fear
Caustic whispers I hear
Cannot find where they are hiding

With consuming infatuation
Inanimate as the world flies by
From buried deep beneath the earth
I attempt to gather the drive to try
