SWEDA
Changes
SWEDA's opening hours are changing. As from 6th February
2012 the SWEDA office will be open Tuesday
- Friday,
and closed on Monday. If you would like to speak to someone directly,
our Clerical Support
Worker will be in on Thursday and Friday mornings
between 9am and 1pm. At other times please do leave a
message and we will get
back to you.
These changes are a result of the withdrawal of funding by Somerset
Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SomPar). We have also set up
a SWEDA
Changes Message Board for people to discuss these changes,
and service provision for eating disorders in Somerset in general
(you will need to register to use the boards). | |

Somerset and Wessex Eating Disorders
Association -
for help and support around anorexia nervosa and bulimia
nervosa, compulsive eating, binge
eating disorder and related eating disorders (Eating Disorders
Not Otherwise Specified - EDNOS or Eating Disorders
Not Specified EDNS) for all those affected by eating
disorders.
SWEDA - is a
user-led, pro-recovery, registered charity based on the principles
of self help. We are based
at Street in Somerset, in
the Southwest
of
England (UK), with the aim of serving those in Somerset and the surrounding
counties affected by eating disorders - anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa,
compulsive eating, binge eating disorder and all related eating disorders
- whether they are a sufferer themselves, someone caring for, or supporting,
a sufferer or anyone in any way affected by eating disorders. Our services
include a telephone helpline, counselling, student support, pen-pals,
email & letter support, online services (including online message
boards), Life Skills Support and others designed to help you beat eating
disorders!
The 18-25
Project was
an externally funded project offering support to students (18-25) affected
by eating
disorders.
The Project offered a range of support including support
groups at universities including Bath, Bournemouth, Bristol and Exeter.
Although the Project has now formally ended, SWEDA continues to run
the Project's MSN Messenger support.
18-25 Project materials have been
incorporated into the SWEDA
website. Some of the work of the 18-25 Project has been taken on by
SWEDA's new Schools Project. SWEDA itself
has taken up and expanded on some services and now runs eating
disorders support groups at Weston, Bridgwater and Yeovil colleges and
The Somerset College of Arts and Technology in Taunton as well as in the
University of Bournemouth (please note that the Bath group is no longer
running).
SWEDA can provide eating disorders training for students and teacher and
input
into
PHSE.
The Schools
Project
continues SWEDA's committment to helping
young people with eating disorders.
Somerset and Wessex Eating Disorders
Association is
